Controversial Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a 20-year jail sentence for raping two of his disciples, was granted furlough on Wednesday for 21 days by the Haryana government.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim walked out of the Sunaria Jail in Rohtak (Haryana) on Saturday after he was granted 40 days parole on Friday.
Notably, the Dera chief was also granted parole ahead of the Haryana panchayat election and Adampur Assembly bypoll. Rahim was granted parole for a month on June 17.

Ram Rahim and the three others were convicted by the CBI court on January 11. All the four were convicted under Section 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
