The reopening of the Delhi Zoo on Saturday after nearly two months of closure drew an enthusiastic response from citizens who ventured out despite the dipping air quality and falling temperatures in the city.
Following reports of the Avian influenza virus in a waterbird aviary on August 28, the facility was closed indefinitely to the public two days later.
In a press note Thursday, National Zoological Park (NZP) officials stated that “he was consuming leaves and grasses with slight loose motion but was taking concentrate, fruits, and vegetables normally.”
The National Zoological Park shall remain closed for visitors temporarily from Saturday till further order as two of samples have been tested positive for HSNI Avian Influenza Virus.
On Thursday, Ramesh questioned in a post on X whether the collaboration marked the first step toward handing over the zoo to a private entity.
