The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is organising a week-long campaign to raise awareness about safety while using lifts and escalators across the Delhi Metro network.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Modi said that Delhi's development is linked to the image of the entire country.
The Chief Minister added that these projects will not only provide improved convenience for commuters but will also help reduce the pressure of private vehicles on roads and strengthen efforts to control pollution.
“The Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 Metro Station in East Delhi has been renamed as Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar,” the official said, adding that the decision was taken by the State Names Authority (SNA) Committee.
"Recently, approval has also been received for the extension of this corridor from Aerocity to Terminal 1 IGI Airport station (2.263 kms)," a DMRC spokesperson said on Saturday.
The Chief Minister was briefed in detail about the benefits of this new facility constructed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in the heart of the city.
"At present, the Central Secretariat Metro Station serves as an important interchange hub of Central Delhi serving as a junction between the Yellow and Violet lines," a DMRC spokesperson said on Thursday.
The streets of the national capital are presently dotted with close to 20 km of Metro construction site barricades to ensure the safety of vehicles as well as pedestrians along the under-construction Delhi Metro sites.
