Delhi witnessed dense fog on Tuesday morning as air quality remained in the poor category, with several monitoring stations reporting poor to very poor AQI levels, according to CPCB data.
According to data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), while there was a marginal improvement compared to Monday morning, when the AQI was in the 'severe' category at 418.
Delhi recorded a marginal improvement in air quality on Wednesday, but AQI levels remained ‘very poor’ as dense fog reduced visibility and strict GRAP Stage-IV measures stayed in force.
She said the capital has witnessed a steep decline in recent years and urged officials to walk the streets in the morning to see the situation firsthand. Once in office, she said, they must work toward coordinated solutions.
On Wednesday, the air quality readings for Delhi stood at 327, according to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) 4 pm national bulletin with particulate matter, PM 2.5, and PM 10 as the lead polluting agents.
The Sub-Committee constituted for enforcing actions under the anti-pollution plan GRAP reviewed the air quality situation in the region during a meeting held on Tuesday, along with forecasts from weather agencies.
GRAP measures continue across the national capital.
According to reports, more than 20 trains were delayed and at least eight flights diverted due to low visibility.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average AQI in Delhi was recorded at 334, with PM 2.5 being the prominent pollutant in the air.
The CAQM held a review meeting on January 1 with regard to the air quality scenario in the region and observed the forecasts by the India Meteorological Department(IMD)
