Four Naxals were gunned down and some weapons were recovered from their possession during an encounter that broke out between the Leftwing outlaws and security forces in the Bijapur district on Tuesday.

Police sources said NIA officers, assisted by Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF, carried out a raid at the house of Ghulam Ahmad Wani in Keller area of Pulwama district.
Reports of men of these teams rescuing several men and women suffering breathlessness while climbing the steep slopes have been received.
