British MPs will on Monday vote on an inquiry report by a UK Parliamentary committee that revealed former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has deliberately misled the House of Commons over breaches during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Johnson said that he was "bewildered and appalled" after receiving a letter from the from a House of Commons committee.
The new Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak officially become the British prime minister following his meeting with King Charles III, where he was asked to form the next government.
Sunak had thanked supporters who backed him in the Conservative Party race and said now it was time for all of them to unite behind the new UK Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Although he quit as the Conservative leader, Johnson said he would continue serving as the Prime Minister until his successor is chosen by the party.
A total of 58 ministers quit the government following an ethics scandal which ultimately forced the UK premier to resign.
In his address to the nation, Johnson, though said that he regrets not being able to complete term but added that he was immensely proud of his achievements.
Soon, a Conservative leadership race will take place for the position of a new Prime Minister. It will be in place in time for the Conservative Party conference in October.
There may yet be talk of another no-confidence motion, though going by the party’s rules, Mr Johnson should face no other challenge until next June.
