A 54-year-old man and his wife were killed and two others of the family seriously injured after the house in which they were making firecrackers was ripped apart following a blast in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, police said on Saturday.
Six people were killed in a deadly explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit at Ammayanaickenpatti village near Sattur in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, about 520 km south of Chennai, on Saturday morning.
Bipadtaran Bagdi (36) died when a gas cylinder burst during the refilling of gas balloons in Ahmedpur in Sainthia of Birbhum district.

ABC News reported that three of those injured are in a critical condition. Fire officials said that a building adjacent to the site of the explosion was being evacuated.
The spokesman said that on the night of 17 July, an accidental grenade blast occurred, when the Indian Army troops were performing their duties along the LOC in Mendhar Sector, District Poonch.
As per the reports, the gunpowder was found at the site, that killed around 13 people and left 20 injured when the boiler exploded on Saturday.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have registered an FIR under sections 286 (Negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), 287 (Negligent conduct with respect to machinery), 304 (culpable homicide), 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide), 337 (negligence endangering human life), and 338 (grievous hurt by an act which endangers human life) of the Indian Penal Code against the owner of the factory.
