’18 lakh vulnerable pensioners left in the lurch’: Naveen slams Odisha govt for three-month delay in pension

Stepping up his attack on the BJP-led Odisha government, Leader of the Opposition and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Friday accused it of failing the state's most vulnerable citizens over the non-disbursal of social security pensions to nearly 18 lakh beneficiaries for the last three months, and urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to ensure immediate release of the pending payments.

Minister leads protest against DVC at Panchet office

After staging a protest at the Maithon office of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) a few days ago, the Trinamul Congress (TMC) today gheraoed the Panchet office of the DVC in Jharkhand, alleging that the corporation has been releasing huge quantities of water without consulting the state government, leading to man-made floods.
