The BCCI has announced India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah making their return to the national side, while young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been left out despite scoring a century in the final ODI against Afghanistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad on Sunday, with Shubman Gill set to lead the side and Shreyas Iyer named vice-captain for the tour, which begins on July 14.

Kohli returns after missing the Afghanistan ODI series due to a hamstring injury sustained during IPL 2026, although the BCCI clarified that his participation remains subject to fitness clearance. Bumrah also makes his comeback after being rested for the Afghanistan series as part of workload management and is expected to spearhead India’s pace attack in English conditions.

There is, however, no return for Hardik Pandya. The seam-bowling all-rounder was initially selected for the Afghanistan ODIs but suffered a setback during rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, ruling him out once again.

Jaiswal’s omission is one of the notable talking points from the squad announcement. The left-handed opener impressed during the Afghanistan series and capped it off with a century in the final ODI, but has made way following Kohli’s return. Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Gurnoor Brar has retained his place after a series of strong performances.

India’s ODI tour of England will begin at Edgbaston on July 14 before moving to Sophia Gardens on July 16. The third and final ODI will be played at Lord’s on July 19.

In a separate update, the BCCI confirmed that pacer Prasidh Krishna has been added to India’s T20I squad for the two-match series against Ireland, replacing spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who remains sidelined while recovering from a left foot injury sustained during IPL 2026.

“Varun Chakravarthy is in the final stages of his rehab at the BCCI COE following his left foot injury sustained in the IPL 2026. He is ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland,” the BCCI said in a statement.
