Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is expected to visit Lucknow on March 13 to attend a Congress event at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, where he will address a gathering of prominent Dalit leaders, social activists, and intellectuals.
BSP supremo Mayawati had already criticised SP for holding PDA Day on March 15, the birth anniversary of BSP founder Manyawar Kanshi Ram. She also termed it a drama by the SP.
He questioned the motive behind these actions. Responding personally, he said that the public is being deliberately drawn into the “Shankaracharya controversy” to divert attention from the globally discussed ‘Epstein Files.’
The minister’s remarks are significant as it is a rare instance of a ruling party leader publicly criticising action by a central agency against an Opposition politician.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President and four-time former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has strongly dismissed reports that the party may contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in alliance with other political parties.
"If anyone (MLA) of you violates the whip, the party would ensure an action against as per the anti-defection law", Baba said.
Badal said the sale of liquor and sand will be regularised through corporations, opening up opportunities for the deserving unemployed educated youth.
Mayawati also said that the Chief Minister should have mentioned the work done by her when she was in power.
All these leaders wield considerable influence in their respective areas and with support from the BJP, they will manage a comfortable reelection next year.
While the AIMIM offered an election ticket to Mukhtar Ansari and then said that it would not put up its candidate against him if he contested from another party, the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) has now come out in support of the beleaguered MLA.
