The operation, which started on Wednesday, is still ongoing and has also led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the site, officials said.

In a successful operation, Assam Rifles (East) has recovered 150 bags of illegal areca nuts in the general area of Melbuk in Zokhawthar and 33 grams of heroin along with one worth Rs 1.07 crore, the official said.
The operation was led by Deputy Inspector General Ved Beniwal. A total of 676 persons including 341 families were evacuated during this process.
Indian Army and Assam Rifles which were called in to curb violence in Manipur have successfully rescued nearly 23,000 civilians so far and moved them to the operating bases, a statement from the Indian Army said on Sunday.
The statement said that AR's Aizawl Batallion reacted swiftly by launching rescue columns from their nearest operating bases.
