Former West Bengal minister Aroop Biswas appeared before Bidhannagar Police for a second round of questioning in connection with the alleged mismanagement and crowd chaos during Lionel Messi's GOAT India Tour event in Kolkata.
The political developments gathered pace on Monday when senior leaders, including Firhad Hakim and Aroop Biswas, were seen in the special session of the rival faction at a five star hotel in the eastern fringes of the city.
Aroop Biswas has raised an apprehension that unauthorised persons may misuse signed cheques and sought status quo until a competent authority resolves the matter.
On June 18, Aroop Biswas was spotted arriving at the Bidhannagar (South) Police Station in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal to face questioning in the case.
The ex-Sports Minister Aroop Biswas has so far not responded to the earlier summons issued by the police in the December 2025 case. Biswas had even sought relief from the Calcutta High Court.
Swarup Biswas was remanded to police custody by a court in Kolkata till June 18. He was produced before the Alipore Court, where the Judge rejected his bail plea.
He was taken into custody on Thursday night in connection with an alleged extortion racket operating in the Tollygunge film and television industry.
Mr Biswas has been asked to appear before investigating officers at Bidhannagar South police station on 4 June.
