Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed on Friday that 54 high-rise buildings installed Anti Smog Guns after the city government made it mandatory under Environment Action Plan while 257 end-of-life vehicles impounded in the last 24 hours.
This is the first time that the city government is taking such a step on vertical infrastructure as part of its air pollution response which makes Delhi the first Indian city to embed rooftop anti-smog infrastructure into urban policy through a formal legal mechanism.
Additionally, there is a special emphasis on optimising the use of mechanized road sweeping machines, implementing effective manual road sweeping, and utilizing water sprinklers to suppress dust particles.
Dust from the C&D activities is a major and consistent source of air pollution and contributes adversely to the spike in PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels in the NCR.
This includes two at Bhalswa landfill site, three at C&D plants (Rani Khera, Burari & Jahangir Puri), one at Okhla and others.
