Virat Kohli-led team India left for Australia on Friday for their crucial 64-day tour to Down Under. After India’s two back-to-back defeat in overseas Test series in South Africa and England earlier this year, India’s tour to Australia is seen as a big opportunity for Virat Kohli and his team to finally break the duck in Test series outside the sub-continent.

The Australian side will be without the services of their best players Steve Smith and David Warner as they are serving a one-year ban imposed by CA in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal that rocked the cricket world in March 2018.

On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a picture of the team at the airport prior to their departure with the message: “ Happy faces and gamer boys before the team’s departure to Australia.”

India’s ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma also shared a photograph and wrote, “Gangs here and we are ready to jet.”

The Men-in-Blue will play three-match T20 International series against Australia starting November 21 and then four Test matches followed by three One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been dropped from the India squad for the T20I series and young Rishabh Pant is expected to keep the wickets for India.

Speaking to media at the pre-departure press conference, Virat Kohli said, “When it comes to getting engaged in an argument on the field, I have been completely okay playing without an altercation. I have enough belief in my abilities.. those were very immature things I used to feed on when I was younger.”

“Now being captain of the team, you do not have time to think of anything else apart from what the team needs,” the skipper added.
