India’s Aruna Budda Reddy created history by winning the bronze medal in women’s vaults at the 2018 World Gymnastics in Melbourne, on Saturday.

Aruna Reddy finished at the third spot with the score of 13.649 after her two attempts. Slovania’s Tjasa Kysslef won the gold medal with a score of 13.800, while Australia’s Emily Whitehead bagged the silver with a score 13.699 in the finals.

Other than Aruna, another Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak finished at the sixth spot with a score of 13.416.

In the finale of Gymnastics World Cup 2018, Aruna’s first attempt was great when she chose a difficulty level of 4.600. In the first attempt, she scored 9.066 on execution– giving her a total of 13.666.

However, in the second attempt, Aruna chose the higher difficulty (4.800) but could only manage an execution score of 8.833. Her total score reached 13.633.

Aruna’s final score was 13.648 after taking the aggregate of her two attempts.
