England veteran pacer James Anderson would be aiming the top spot of the ICC Test rankings for bowlers when England meet Ireland for their one-off test match at Lord’s beginning on Wednesday.

Notably, James Anderson was overtaken in the Test rankings by South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada in November 2018. A few weeks later, the present number one bowler Pat Cummins of Australia also edged past Anderson.

Currently ranked second, Anderson, will have an opportunity to bridge the 16 point difference between him and Cummins. After the one-off Test against Ireland, James Anderson and Pat Cummins will potentially battle it out against each other and will also have the Number 1 Ranked Bowler’s place to play for, apart from the coveted Ashes.

In ICC Test team rankings, England are all set to remain fourth. They will be on 105 points if they go on to win the match, on 104 if the match is a draw and will be reduced to 102 points if they lose the match.
