Retired IPS officer’s cook alleges assault
A cook at the house of a retired IPS officer and his IPL-player son in Bhopal has alleged that the father-son duo thrashed and abused him.
On the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case against 11 persons including three women.

In a barbaric incident, a woman was thrashed, partially stripped, hair cut, and was paraded with a garland of shoes around her neck allegedly by her in-laws and other accused in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district, the home district of MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav.
On the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case against 11 persons including three women.

The incident occurred in village Araniya Veda on 30 June. According to the police, three accused men have been arrested and sent to jail while a search is on for the remaining accused.

According to Jharada Police Station House Officer (SHO) Anand Bhabhor, the victim was married some years ago to one of the accused men. However, in 2023, she left her first husband and got married to another man from the same village. The couple moved to Indore after her second marriage. On 30 June, the woman with her second husband came back to the village to seek a share in the agricultural property of her first husband’s family.
She told the police in her complaint that Sumer Singh, Kachru Singh, Badrilal and several other people including three women in-laws assaulted her.
She further alleged that she was stripped partially, her hair was cut and a garland of shoes and slippers was put around her neck before the accused paraded her in the entire village.
She told the police that her second husband was also assaulted by the accused.
According to SHO Anand Bhabhor, three accused including Sumer Singh, Kachru Singh and Badrilal were arrested and sent to jail. The police officer said efforts are on to trace and arrest the remaining accused
