The Congress party created high drama in Uttarakhand assembly on Wednesday after a security staff frisked a legislator while entering the house. Angered by the incident, Congress MLAs staged a Dharna in front of the state assembly and also raised the issue inside the house.

According to reports, Congress leader and MLA from Ranikhet, Karan Mehra was entering the state assembly with his supporters in a car on Wednesday morning. The security staff possibly failed to recognise him and asked for his card. Though the MLA provided his card the security staff were unwilling to allow the entry of his supporters. This annoyed Mehra and he made it a big issue out of it.

Demanding to suspend the security staff involved, the Congress members staged a protest. Even after repeated requests from senior BJP leaders, the Congress members continued their protest.
