Jammu and Kashmir: Army’s rescue operation in flood-hit Rajouri saves 11 civilians
Among the 11 rescued persons, five were children. They were stranded at different places in the flood-affected district following incessant rainfall.
Officials informed that this coincides with the suspension of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra due to the inclement weather forecast.

Amid adverse weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has been suspended as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
On Sunday, officials informed that this coincides with the suspension of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra due to the inclement weather forecast, IANS reported.

Authorities have asked devotees to avoid undertaking the pilgrimage until further orders. People have been told to stay updated for the latest information on the Yatra’s resumption.

Talking about the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, informed that in view of the inclement weather forecast issued by the IMD, the pilgrimage shall remain temporarily suspended from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes with effect from Sunday.
Pilgrims will not be permitted from the Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps from Sunday, while further update regarding the resumption of the Yatra will be issued in due course.
As of now, more than 3.7 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra. The SANJY‑2026 began on July 3 and was scheduled to end on August 28, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals.
