The Army on Sunday, July 19, saved the lives of 11 civilians after carrying out a rescue operation in the flash flood-affected Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Among the 11 rescued persons, five were children. They were stranded at different places in the flood-affected district following incessant rainfall, IANS report.

The troops of the Indian Army under White Knight Corps carried out the operation in close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the civil administration.

As part of the operation, Army troops responded swiftly to reports of nine civilians, including five children, stranded across a flooded Nala near Churung Village, south of Thanamandi. Amid strong currents and challenging weather conditions, the rescue teams reached the site promptly and safely evacuated all the stranded persons.

In another operation, troops of the Engineer Regiment rescued two youths, aged between 17 and 20 years.
