Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday called Congress chief Rahul Gandhi a “bacha” (kid) and went on to announce that his party will win over 150 of the 224 Assembly seats in the poll-bound state.

Addressing a public meeting, Yeddyurappa who is the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) chief ministerial candidate in the state said: “They (Congress) have brought a bachcha (Rahul Gandhi) in Karnataka.”

“Now, we are sure of winning more than 150 seats here,” added Yeddyurappa implying Rahul Gandhi’s campaigning in the state will hurt the Congress’ prospects.

The former Karnataka CM has recently intensified his attacks against the 47-year-old Gandhi scion who became the party chief in December.

Last week, Yeddyurappa had hit out at Rahul Gandhi for reportedly visiting a temple after eating “Javari chicken” during his tour of northern parts of the poll-bound state.

Karnataka is likely to go to the polls in April-May and the BJP has been making concerted efforts to wrest it from the Congress.

It is the only big state– which sends 20 or more MPs to the Lok Sabha– being ruled by the Congress.
