Rahul Gandhi is losing the elections from Wayanad and may file nomination from some other place soon, he claimed.
Congress Daman and Diu President Ketan Patel on Sunday claimed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could her poll debut from the Union Territory and that the party has asked him to collect data for the same.
“Priyanka Gandhi may be a possible candidate from Daman and Diu. I welcome this proposal,” he said.
Patel said that South Gujarat and Sourashtra has been with the Congress and that after Priyanka’s arrival, it will benefit the party in PM Modi’s home state.

“The high command has given us the responsibility of data collection. With the arrival of Priyanka ji, the entire South Gujarat which has always been with Congress and Saurashtra which is adjacent to Diu, will benefit here. In Data collection, points like ground reality, voters and past performance will be seen,” Patel added.
Daman and Diu constituency is a BJP stronghold. The seat is being represented by BJP’s Lalubhai Patel since 2009.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. The saffron party has fielded PM Modi from the Varanasi constituency, which he has been representing since 2014.
Earlier, there were speculations that the Congress will field Priyanka Gandhi from Varanasi against PM Modi. However, the party understands the move could backfire and ruin Priyanka’s poll debut plans.
Another constituency the Congress general secretary may contest is Raebareli. The seat was presented by Sonia Gandhi until she became a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan recently.
