Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the third session of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) programme on Friday at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan.

The theme of this year’s programme is “Building Local Resilience in a Changing Climate” which is in line with the prime minister’s ten-point agenda for building local capacities, particularly in the context of a rapidly shifting disaster risk scenario in the wake of climate change.

The programme is expected to commence at 4:30 pm with Modi felicitating the awardees of the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar. As per an official press release, the winners of the 2023 Puraskar are Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and the Lunglei Fire Station, Mizoram.

PM Modi will also inaugurate an exhibition to showcase innovative ideas and initiatives, tools, and technologies in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction.

The NPDRR is a multi-stakeholder platform constituted by the Government of India to facilitate dialogue, sharing experiences, views, ideas, action-oriented research and explore opportunities in the area of Disaster Risk Reduction.
