Claiming that Andhra Pradesh was the only state with a double-engine bullet train government when it came to investment, State IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh took a dig at other competing states, claiming they were inefficient.

Riding high on Google’s investment in Visakhapatnam for an AI hub, Lokesh said there were quite a few double-engine governments in the country, but only one double-engine bullet train ‘sarkar’, referring to the TDP-led NDA government in AP.

Though he did not name Karnataka after his Twitter spat with Congress minister Priyank Kharge, Lokesh said, What can he do if the other states are not competent enough to solve the problems of poor infrastructure?

“If they are inefficient, what can I do? If their own industrialists are saying that the infrastructure is bad and there are severe power cuts and they themselves are saying that. Then they should first focus on attending to those problems rather than taking on me on Twitter. I am not here for a Twitter war. I am here to attract investments for my state, and I will work exceptionally hard for it and I think there is nothing wrong with competition,” he said.

Kharge had described his efforts as desperate scavenging after Lokesh invited an entrepreneur with headquarters in Bengaluru to shift to AP following complaints about the city’s poor civic infrastructure. The state government also cleared Raymond Group’s investment of Rs 1000 crore for high-tech aerospace and automotive manufacturing, which will create 5,400 jobs. The state government will offer Rs 700 crore of subsidies under the industrial and aerospace policy.
