Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Railway informed that by the close of the auction on January 25, the Northern Railway has become the first Zonal Railway to cross the mark of Rs 500 crore in scrap sale by disposing off scrap worth Rs 500.08 crore in the current Financial Year and stands at Rank-1 amongst all zonal Railways and Production units of Indian Railways.

“In the process Northern Railway has sold 2826 Nos. of Lots in 298 Auctions in the quickest time in achieving the sale,” said an official statement.

“It is worth mentioning that Northern Railway has already achieved the Railway Board Scrap Sale target of Rs 460/- Cr. in the month of December, 2022 three months in advance in this financial year 2022-23,” the statement said.

Northern Railway is well poised to cleanse the system from scrap on a “Mission Mode” to achieve ‘Zero Scrap’ status and set an all-time high scrap sale record this financial year.
