Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that there was a need to bring in “as many women as possible” in the administrative setup in order to boost female entrepreneurship.

Concluding his four-day visit to poll-bound Karnataka, the Gandhi scion was interacting with professionals and business leaders in Gulbarga and said that as Congress chief he will ensure that women get a prominent role.

“I believe bringing as many women as possible in the administrative setup will boost entrepreneurship among women,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“As the President of Congress Party, this is what I wish to do and will do it,” he added.

Terming the Goods and Services Tax (GST) an “untested policy” that was imposed on the people of India, the Congress chief vowed to simplify the tax regime if voted to power.

“We asked Modi government to do a pilot test of GST and urged them to not impose an untested policy on the people. But they did not listen,”

“We will simplify the GST,” he added.

The Congress chief further lauded the Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka for introducing policies that protected farmers.

“Our policies reflect a balance between consumer and producer. We believe policies should protect farmers. Our government in Karnataka has done this,” he said adding that Centre’s pulses policy has impacted farmers of Karnataka drastically.
