National War Memorial: MoD decides to honour next of kin of martyrs

Post dedication of the National War Memorial, Ministry of Defence has decided to honour Next of Kin of the Battle Casualties whose names are inscribed at the Tyag Chakra on a regular basis going forward.

The National War Memorial was dedicated by the PM of India on 25 Feb 19 to all Martyrs of the Armed Forces of India who have made supreme sacrifice post-India’sindependence in various conflicts, CI/ CT operations, UN Peacekeeping operations and Humanitarian operations.

Post dedication of the National War Memorial, Ministry of Defence has decided to honour Next of Kin of the Battle Casualties whose names are inscribed at the Tyag Chakra on a regular basis going forward.

On July 23, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa PVSM AVSM YSM VM ADC, Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Air Staff paid homage at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Present on the occasion was Alka Ahuja, wife of late Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja who made supreme sacrifice on 27 May 1999 during ‘Op Safed Sagar’ and was posthumously awarded Vir Chakra and Ashrad Bibi wife of Late Subedar Mohd Shafi who made supreme sacrifice during ‘Op Rakshak’ in J&K on 01 Jun 2000.
