The Gururam Police arrested the manager of a restaurant in connection with an incident where five people were hospitalised after vomiting and burning sensation in their mouths allegedly after consuming a mouth freshener offered to them at the restaurant.

The manager was produced before a court and a case was registered by the police in this matter.

The police said they would be asking the owner of the café-cum-restaurant to join the investigation. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media where the five are purportedly seen vomiting blood.

Three of the five persons have been discharged from the hospital while two of them are still under treatment but are stable.

According to the police, as per a complaint, the five persons had been offered a mouth freshener post meal on March 2, and after eating the same they started vomiting and also felt a burning sensation in their mouth.

The police have registered a case under sections 328 and 120B against the owner and the staff of the restaurant, while a further probe was underway in the matter, the police added.

It is being said that due to negligence of the restaurant staff dry ice was offered by mistake, but there was no bad intention behind it.

The arrested manager joined the restaurant namely Laforestta in Sector 90 three months ago and was a resident of Delhi’s Kirti Nagar.
