‘Focus on social media misuse by Pakistan’

The director general of police (J&K), SP Vaid, on Sunday said that the state police is focusing to enhance its capability to counter the menace of inimical forces across the border misusing social media to misguide the youth in Kashmir.

Vaid was interacting with a group of IPS officers who had come to Srinagar from the SVP National Police Academy, Hyderabad.

He said that the J&K police with the active support of other Security Forces has been able to normalise the situation in the valley, particularly in South Kashmir and the credit for the same goes to the last man, who is deployed in the field and works with the people.

The DGP and other officers interacted with the visiting officers on a number of areas of policing in the state.

Vaid said that the impression being created by the media regarding Kashmir need to be corrected. Lamenting the machination of Pakistan, he said that common man in Kashmir wants peace and prosperity since he bears the brunt and exploitation from the neighbouring country. He said that a number of measures were taken to bring the difficult situation under control.

He highlighted the contribution of the field officers and SPOs for their dedicated efforts in bringing the situation to normal. He said that the police personnel in the field are doing a commendable job and brave men have laid their lives in the line of duty.

He further said that through Police Community Partnership, police is trying to reach out the people and redress their grievances of day to day life. Police is working as catalyst in bring their issues to the notice of other departments and redress, DGP said.

The interactive session was attended by IGP Railways M.A Ganaie, IGP Personnel PHQ, J.P Singh, IGP Security, Alok Kumar, IGP Headquarters S.K Gupta, AIsGP PHQ Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Mubassir Latifi,  Kulbir Singh, Abdul Waheed Shah and Manoj Kumar Pandith.
