Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar along with Chhattisgarh Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated a captivating developmental exhibition at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGAU), marking the celebration of its foundation day.

Vice President Dhankhar expressed a keen interest in Chhattisgarh linen derived from flaxseed stems, lauding the sustainable approach of the ‘Waste to Wealth’ campaign. Dr KP Verma, a senior agricultural scientist, elaborated on the transformative use of flaxseed stems for linen production.

Surveying small grain crops from Bastar, Vice President Dhankhar gained insights into the dedicated efforts of local farmers. Dr Rahul Sahu from the Agriculture Science Centre in Kanker informed him about a group of 500 women associated with a self-help group, contributing to the production and processing of minor grains for their livelihood.

Deepak Sharma, Head of the Genetics and Plant Breeding department, presented ‘Sanjeevani,’ a rice variety developed through university research. This rice not only acts as an immunity booster but also exhibits anti-cancer properties.

During stall inspections, Vice President Dhankhar learned about CG Raigarh turmeric and the production of turmeric panchang made from its five components-root, tuber, leaf, flower, and stem. This panchang is valued for its medicinal properties and is used in treating skin and circulatory diseases.

Managing Trustee Padam Daklia from Manohar Gaushala presented Vice President Dhankhar a photo of Kamadhenu Soumya, a statue of Lord Ganesha made from cow dung, lamp, a mat, and a necklace made from cow dung beads.

Daklia shared that the gaushala has a unique Kamadhenu cow with 27 qualities, and they have distributed organic fertilizer to 75,000 farmers.
