All seven Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party MPs are observing a fast against the washout of the second part of Parliament’s budget session due to continuous disruptions, which the party blamed it on the Congress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also observing a fast while on a day-long visit to Tamil Nadu.

The Congress on Thursday dubbed the ongoing fast by the BJP MPs as “farcical”.

“A Farcical Fast by a fascist BJP,” said Congress communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala, in a tweet. Surjewala also asked when would the Prime Minister talk of “Jan Ki Baat” (people’s talk), instead of “jumlas and rhetoric” managing headlies.

“Post rhetoric, jumlas, diversions, headline management, TV studio warfare; Will PM/BJP answer when will they start Jan Ki Baat’?,” he said on Twitter.

Surjewala also used the hashtag “#UpvasKaJumla” along with his tweet.

On Wednesday, he had termed the BJP’s fast led by PM Narendra Modi as “a drama” and “a photo-op.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, who represents the Chandani Chowk constituency, East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi, West Delhi MP Pravesh Verma, North West Delhi MP Udit Raj, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari participated in the day-long strike that will conclude at 4 pm.

BJP President Amit Shah will observe the  hunger strike in Hubli of poll-bound Karnataka, while party MPs will fast in their respective constituencies.

The BJP’s fast comes days after Congress President Rahul Gandhi led the party’s day-long hunger strike at the Rajghat in New Delhi on Monday over the alleged increasing atrocities on Dalits, adivasis, and minorities.
