A combination of beauty and brains, Mumbai-based doctor Tanushree Pandey Padgaonkar was crowned the HTC Gladrags Mrs India 2015.
The pageant, which was shown as a family-oriented reality TV series on Channel V featuring multi-talented, multi-tasking married Indian women, started in March 2015 with 18 contestants and the winners were crowned on June 28.
Post her win, Tanushree shared the photo on her Facebook page and thanked her well-wishers and fans.
"Dear extended family, You people really make my victory worth it. It’s because of your overwhelming love and support that I am rejoicing in the true sense, I have tried to reply to everyone’s messages personally. However, if I have skipped to thank someone please forgive me. A BIG THANK-YOU for celebrating my happiness with me," she wrote in her post.
Among the top five names who entered the final included Anika Agrawal. She won a sub-category award Mrs. Exotic Beauty 2015.
Post the pageant, Anika, who gives credit to her mother for her participation in the pageant, said, "Last Mother’s Day, on wishing mom she asked me for a gift. She wanted me to fill the form for Gladrags Mrs India pageant. My first reaction was laughter and I was amazed at how persistent my mother could be! She put forward the idea to my husband and he had a hearty laugh too but mom did not give up!" She then added, "This time, I thought, why not? So I went ahead and filled the application and sent in my entry, and from then on, its been a dream ride."
Hailing from Ahmedabad and making it big on Gladrags Pageant, Anika is now keen to join modelling and is interested in doing character roles in interesting projects. She also expressed interest in print media.
Anika, earlier, featured in Marwar magazine under ‘Young Turk’, for being a woman entrepreneur actively involved in the family business.
The Gladrags Mrs India contest is held every year and the past winners included names like Aditi Govitrikar, Jasmine D’Souza, Tania Soni, Naina Daliwal, Shilpa Reddy, Jimmy Nanda, Madhvi Awasthi, Sophia Handa, Kavita Sachdev and Vaneeta Bhatia.
