The ‘Ikkis’ makers, war drama starring Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda, have announced a change in the film’s release date plans. The movie, which was earlier set to arrive in theatres on December 25, will now hit the big screen on January 1, 2026.
The update comes shortly after the passing of legendary actor Dharmendra on November 24.

A new release date for ‘Ikkis’
‘Ikkis’ will now open in cinemas on the first day of the new year. The makers shared the news on social media calling the film a story of courage and sacrifice. Along with the date announcement, they also revealed that the final trailer will be released soon in theatres.
About ‘Ikkis’
At the heart of ‘Ikkis’ is the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. He was just 21 years old when he laid down his life during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war.
Agastya Nanda plays the role of Lt Arun Khetarpal in the film. He is joined by Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia in key roles.
The film is directed by Sriram Raghavan.
A moving tribute in Mumbai for Arun Khetarpal
Recently, the cast and crew of ‘Ikkis’ came together in Mumbai to pay tribute to Lt Arun Khetarpal. The event was attended by senior Indian Army officers, including Lt Gen DS Kushwah. Members of the Indian Army were present.

During the event, Agastya Nanda spoke from the heart about his experience playing Arun Khetarpal. He described the soldier as “brave and passionate” and said what struck him the most was how young Arun was when he achieved something so great.
Addressing school children present at the event, Agastya said he hopes young viewers will learn from Arun Khetarpal’s life.
The tribute event ended with the unveiling of a large army tank, symbolising Arun Khetarpal’s role in the 1971 war.
