Leader of Opposition and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal sought the resignation of CM Virbhadra Singh on moral grounds in the Gudia case.

“It is unfortunate that owing to the wrong policies of the Congress to shelter the criminals, the number of FIR registered in Himachal Pradesh has reached to about 18,000. Congress was solely responsible for the worsening law and order in the state,” he said.

Congress government has no right to remain in power and also taking moral responsibility for the dwindling law and order situation, he should resign and pave way for the new opinion. He lambasted the Congress government for having pushed the state into the mess of crime to serve their inherent interest.

Dhumal said that the Kotkhai incident not only tarnished the image of Himachal Pradesh but also the police uniform got tainted, wherein the protectors turned procrastinator which was most unfortunate.

The state government, especially the CM misled the people in this said case, he charged adding that he had always patted his back against the investigation conducted by the SIT constituted to investigate the Gudia case.

“In the wake of the arrest of 8 policemen, which is ironic, it has now been clarified that this SIT has tried to destroy the case and had also tried to divert the direction of investigation. This has raised serious doubts on the functioning of the police department,” he alleged.

“Drug mafia, mining mafia, ground mafia are flourishing in the patronage of the government. There is no such thing as law in the state. There is ‘Jungle Raj’, marred with increasing crimes against women and children which is fatal for the state,” he alleged.
