IANS reported that Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand has strictly warned personnel not to use headphones or earphones while on duty, and the order to that effect was communicated to all police stations under its jurisdiction on Saturday night.
This comes as part of the effort by the newly elected state government to inculcate strict disciplinary habits and thereby strenghten the efficiency of the state’s police force.
The directive about prohibiting use of headphones come after a recent such order which restricted personnel from performing official duties in plain clothes. However, this order was not inclusive of those cops who are attached to certain specialised units. (With agency inputs)
