Gurugram offers 10% rebate on property tax

Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) is offering a 10 per cent rebate on the property tax payments made until December 31 for the financial year 2017 – 2018.

Informing this on Wednesday, commissioner, MCG, V Umashankar said the detailed information about this rebate is available on the website www.mcg.gov.in.

He informed that the figures reflected under the Property Tax bill for the year 2017 – 2018 are already inclusive of a 10 per cent rebate on the actual property tax. This rebate is available only until December 31, 2017 and property owners should avail benefit of this scheme by timely payment of property taxes, and also refrain from any late payment penalty or any other forms of late payment punishments. The commissioner also informed that property tax can be paid online on the MCG website www.mcg.gov.in by clicking on the property tax icon and navigating to the ‘To search and pay property tax’ option.

The online payment will save both time and money required to commute to the MCG office. Property Tax can be paid online through various means including net banking, debit card and credit card, he said. Umashankar  informed that over 30,080 citizens have availed the benefits of online property tax payment option from November 1, 2017 to December 18, 2017 and more are following the league.

He added that over 47,863 property tax owners have paid their tax from November 1, 2017 to December 18, 2017 out of which over 60 per cent chose to pay their tax through online mediums.

Citizens who are not informed about the online property tax payment option can visit the citizen service centres at both the offices of MCG; situated in Infocity, Sector 34 and opposite Civil Hospital and pay their property tax. These centres accept property tax payment of up to Rs 5000 through cash, debit and credit cards and demand draft modes, Umashankar added.

He said as per Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 all property tax owners are required to pay property tax for any type of building and land which is in the limits of MCG. Although details about the property tax payments are available on the MCG website, citizens can also call on the toll free number 1800-180-1817 for any further details.
