The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of unaided colleges of Punjab on Sunday claimed that fate of Lakhs of Scheduled Caste (SC) students hanging in balance due to the non-payment of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) of around Rs 1,600 crore.
A meeting of the 14 Associations of unaided Educational Institutions, representing more than 1,000 unaided colleges of Punjab, was held under the banner of Joint Action Committee (JAC), Punjab here on Sunday.
The representatives of the associations discussed the concerns of the institutes regarding the implementation of revised PMS Scheme for SC since April 2018.

JAC spokesperson Dr Anshu Kataria said that around Rs 1,600 crore under PMS of unaided colleges is pending towards the government since long.
Under the revised policy, the Punjab government has to pay around 550 crore of the scheme for the year 2017-18.
The consensus among the colleges is built up for not to admit the SC students without fee for academic session 2018-19, he added.
“The colleges may also debar the existing students from attending classes in next session until and unless the pending amount is disbursed by the state government. The JAC may consider the implementation of these decisions, if the fee of SC students is not disbursed up to May end”, Kataria said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of JAC, Ashwani Sekhri said that unaided institutes have come up with an investment of thousands of Crore and providing employment to nearly two Lakh persons.
