A 25-year-old woman sat on dharna outside her lover’s house at Kapila village under Binjharpur police station limits in the district. She was demanding justice as her lover Ratikanta Dash had cheated her by promising to marry her and luring her to a physical relationship.
She claimed that she and her lover were in live-in relationship for three years. But the latter got married to another woman without her knowledge.
She urged local police to take stern and exemplary action against her lover Ratikanta. Meanwhile, the lover and his family fled from their house.

Based on the woman’s complaint, police fled a case against him and started investigation into the incident. According to the complaint she works in a private company in Bhubaneswar and Ratikanta used to work in the same company three years ago.
“The victim alleges that the two used to stay in a rented house as couples for three years,” S B Das inspector in- charge of Binjharpur police station.
However, Ratikanta left his job from the private company and said he had an offer from another company with better salary package. He left her in December last year.
Then Ratikanta started avoiding her. He even stopped talking to her on mobile phone. Later, through common friends, she came to know that Ratikanta had married another girl last month..
“The victim arrived at Kapila village on Tuesday afternoon and went to the house of Ratikanta to tell his parents about everything”.
The parents of the boy threatened her and drove her away. She narrated her plight to villagers and staged a dharna. On being informed, local police reached the spot. But by then Ratikanta and his family members managed to flee from their house.
