Inheritance tax could nullify the progress India made in last 10 years: Nirmala Sitharaman
The finance minister criticised the Congress party for allegedly advocating the inheritance tax.
Having led Congress back to power after a decade, Captain Amarinder Singh will take oath as chief minister of Punjab on 16 March along with his Cabinet members. This was after the party’s chief ministerial candidate was unanimously elected the new leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) on Sunday.
Captain Amarinder also met Punjab governor VP Singh Badnore at Raj Bhawan, where the governor formally invited him to form the next government in Punjab.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place on March 16, Thursday at 10 a.m. Captain Amarinder said a few Cabinet members will also take their oath of office along with him but did not give any details.

AICC secretary in-charge of Punjab affairs, Asha Kumari, said the election of Captain Amarinder as the Congress legislative party leader took place at the Congress Bhawan, where all the newly elected MLAs passed a one-line resolution authorising Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to take a decision on the new CLP leader. She later informed the MLAs that Rahul Gandhi had proposed the name of Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder as the new CLP leader. The Congress MLAs then unanimously elected Captain Amarinder as their leader by show of hands, she informed.
