8 dead in accident on Delhi-Badaun highway

Eight persons lost their lives and 11 others sustained injuries after an Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus and a Bolero vehicle collided on the Delhi-Badaun highway in Sambhal area on Friday morning.

Confirming the deaths, Sambhal ASP Pankaj Pandey said six persons died at the spot while the other rest succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The Injured had been admitted to Gunnaur health centre from where they were referred to the district hospital in Moradabad where two persons breathed their last.

Pandey said the bus (UP14 DT3647) collided with the Bolero (UP81AD6645) head-on. The bus had started from Gunnaur and was going to Narora.

The ASP, along with Sambhal SP Yamuna Prasad, and other police officials rushed to the spot shortly after the accident and supervised the rescue work.
A case has been registered against the bus driver and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

The deceased are Hardevi, Rajesh, Soran Singh, Anushka, Ashok, Chandrakala, Ravi Kumar and Saraswati.
