Apart from broadcasting the dynamic location of herds of the migrating Dalma Range elephants, the forest department of Bankura (north) and Bishnupur divisions have arranged special transportation for the examinees from the villages in Barjora, Beliatore, Gangajalghanti and Sonamukhi Range areas.
Two villagers were trampled to death by the migrating elephants in Barjora two weeks ago. Out of a total 67 elephants of the Dalma Range herd, 22 were pushed back to Jhargram last week. Umar Imam, DFO, Bankura (north) said, “We’ve put our rangers in those areas on high alert and the forest guards have been placed on different locations in the vulnerable stretches to help security cover.” The elephant squad patrolling vans have also been deputed for the Madhyamik days, the officials said.
