Tamil Nadu forest department on Monday captured a wild 'Makhna' elephant which was destroying crops at Saralapathy near Pollachi district.
He also interacted with field directors of tiger reserves that have scored highest in the recently concluded 5th cycle of the Management Effectiveness Evaluation exercise.
According to eye-witness account, the elephant was visibly annoyed by the noise and people taking selfies. The pachyderm soon went out of the control of his owner.

The issue that Seema is dedicated to is a big one in the country, particularly in rural villages, as India has the largest population of wild Asian elephants.
“With competition for resources, (the number of) human-animal conflicts are increasing, and it is very unfortunate that around 500 people are killed in elephant attacks and 100 jumbos are killed in retaliation annually,” Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said.
Prime Minister also expressed happiness upon the rise in the number of elephant reserves in the last eight years.
