Rajpal Yadav case: The Delhi High Court has adjourned Rajpal Yadav’s bail hearing to Monday in his ₹9 crore loan repayment case. The actor, currently in Tihar Jail, sought bail citing a family wedding, but the court has asked the complainant to file a reply before taking a decision.
Rajpal, currently lodged in Tihar Jail, is battling a decade-old loan case involving nearly ₹9 crore. And if today’s hearing proved anything, it’s that the court’s patience is running thin.

Earlier in the day, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma did not hold back. Addressing the situation directly, the court told Rajpal, “You have gone to jail because you didn’t honour your own commitment.”

The judge pointed out that on at least two dozen occasions, the actor had assured the court he would repay the money. His lawyers had also repeatedly made similar statements. Yet, the repayment never happened.

At one stage, the court noted that both Yadav and his counsel had earlier promised that the money would be paid to the complainant. But during Thursday’s hearing, the stand appeared to shift, with counsel saying they would now deposit the amount. Justice Sharma firmly asked them to make up their mind and scheduled the matter for 2:30 pm.
When the hearing resumed at 2:30, the situation did not improve for the actor.
Yadav’s counsel informed the court that he had tried contacting the actor but was unable to reach him. He said a fresh bail application had been filed and requested that a response from the other side be sought. He also suggested that the case could be adjourned until Monday, promising to “come up with something” by then.
The court agreed to adjourn the matter to Monday.
Justice Sharma directed the complainant to file a reply to the bail application. During the discussion, the court also revealed that Rajpal had earlier challenged the first order before the Supreme Court but did not receive any relief there. The judge remarked that while going through the file, several details had emerged that were not initially known.
