The second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was much talked about. Played at Trent Bridge, this match witnessed a terrible defeat for the Pakistan Cricket team against the West Indies. The entire Pak batting order collapsed for just 105 runs on the board. Oshaine Thomas was the major reason why Pak were dismissed so cheaply in this game. Playing his maiden World Cup, Oshaine gave just 27 runs and picked up 4 wickets.

This is Oshaine’s first World Cup. Instead of showing any signs of nervousness in his first game, Thomas was spot on in his debut match and made it quite a memorable occasion for himself. Thomas was the most successful Windies pacer and bagged the “Man of the Match” award for his performance.

Dismissed 4 batsmen

Oshaine dismissed 4 Pakistani batsmen in his spell of 5.4 overs. His first victim was Babar Azam who was caught behind the stumps by the wicketkeeper. Post this, Oshaine also dismissed Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz cheaply to help his team get an upper hand in the contest.

The quickest at 22

Playing for the West Indies, Oshaine Thomas is only 22 and is easily the quickest bowler in the side. The Jamaican Cricketer can easily click 150 KMPH and can trouble any batsman with his sharp pace and bounce.

With proper training and experience, Thomas looks set to have an illustrious career ahead.

Gayle spotted the young talent

West Indies batsman Chris Gayle first took notice of the talented pacer. It is worth noting that when Gayle was practising at the nets once, he noticed the raw pace and talent that Thomas oozed. Oshaine was in high school back then.

The pacer then even featured in the Caribbean Premier League and made his mark before playing a few games in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals in 2019.

Made his International debut in 2018

Oshaine made his International debut in 2018 when West Indies toured India in October. The pacer made his first appearance in a One Day International at Guwahati. Thomas now has 19 wickets in 10 ODIs.

Witnessed his brother dying

Away from Cricket, Thomas had to fight his personal demons. When he was 16, his brother was shot dead by some hooligans right in front of his eyes. At 20, he himself had to encounter extortionists.

Fortunately for the World of Cricket, Oshaine outshone all difficulties and made a name for himself in the cricketing arena.
