Sri Lanka defeated England by 20 runs at Leeds to complete arguably the biggest upset of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. This was Sri Lanka’s second win and with six points on the board, they are now placed at the fifth position on the points tally. On the other hand, England are still at eight points.

– Jofra Archer (15 wickets) is now no 2 on the list of most wickets by an England bowler in a World Cup. He surpassed Andrew Flintoff’s tally of 14 wickets on Friday. Only Ian Botham (16) has more wickets than him. Archer is expected to break Botham’s record.

– Post the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, England managed their second lowest total in powerplay at home (38/2), courtesy a brilliant opening spell from Lasith Malinga who dismissed both the openers.

– Joe Root equalled Kevin Peterson and Jonathon Trot’s tally of most 50 plus scores (5) in a World Cup for England

– This was Sri Lanka’s fourth straight win against England in World Cups (2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019). England and Sri Lanka have met each other at the World Cup stage on 11 occasions – while England have won six out of these matches, Sri Lanka has won five.

– Sri Lanka equaled New Zealand and Pakistan’s tally of most wins against England in this prestigious tournament. All three teams have managed to do it on five occasions.
