Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday inaugurated the Guwahati-Dhaka bus service from the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Gogoi said a new chapter in India-Bangladesh relations has begun with the commencement of the bus service between the two countries.

"We want better communication with every country in the world. With this new bus service, people will be immensely benefited," he added.

The bus service was inaugurated coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s current visit to Bangladesh.

In Dhaka, Modi flagged off the Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala and Dhaka-Shillong-Guwahati bus services with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
