From Thiruvananthapuram, he would visit Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, party sources said.

Before leaving for Delhi in the evening, PM Modi would visit cyclone-hit areas in Thiruvananthpuram’s coastal region.

On 14 December, Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited some places hit by the Cyclone Ochki in southern Kerala, Tamil Nadu and pitched for a better warning system to prevent recurrence of such tragedies.

Rahul met families of missing fishermen and assured them that Congress would raise the issue in the winter session of Parliament

The cyclone, which lashed the coastal areas on 29-30 November, claimed 68 lives and caused huge damage to crops and property.

More than 90 fishermen, mostly from the coastal belt of Poonthura, Vizhinjam and Adimalathura on the city outskirts, are missing.
