To garner support for his election as the next President, National Democratic Alliance's  presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind will visit Chandigarh on June 29.

He will cover both Punjab and Haryana states during the one-day visit. Sources said Kovind will be accompanied by the Union minister for external affairs, Sushma Swaraj, and party general secretary Anil Jain.

To ensure Kovind's victory by a big margin, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has sought main  Opposition, Indian National Lok Dal's (INLD) support for the NDA's presidential nominee.

The Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, on Sunday said the INLD has sought two days time to decide its stand on the issue. But the ruling BJP is confident of getting the Om Prakash Chautala-led party as it's a former ally and the INLD has always been anti-Congress.

Meanwhile, the state executive committee of INLD on Monday authorised party supremo Om Prakash Chautala to take a decision on party's support for the candidates contesting for Presidential post.

Leader of Opposition, Abhey Singh Chautala said that after the meet, the INLD has decided that the final decision in this regard should be taken by the party chief.

Chuatala said that BJP leader and Union minister Venkaiah Naidu had also met the former Haryana CM seeking his support for NDA candidate Kovind but Chautala said that the decision would be taken in party's executive meet, however the state executive committee came out with a decision that the final call should be taken by their senior leader.
