The Vice-Chancellor of University of North Bengal, Prof Samir Kumar Das, said the varsity would extend support to develop the tea industry in this region and it has all potential expertise to assist tea planters.
Addressing the 85th annual general meeting of the TIPA, chief guest Prof Das mentioned that the University of North Bengal has offered M Sc in Tea Science and it is the first time in the world.
According to him, the University is well equipped to educate students studying in diploma and M Sc in Tea Science.
Notably, the first batch of M Sc students in Tea Science will complete the degree very soon. The combination of subjects for M Sc in Tea Science was made carefully so that a student, after completion of post graduation, would be able to contribute to the tea industry and bring development professionally. The NBU has also set up a tea research centre, including another setup for soil test.
