SHASHAN, 13 JULY: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today claimed that ever since the Trinamul Congress came to power, Shashan in North 24 Parganas ~ the once stronghold of the CPI-M led by Majid Master ~ has been freed of terror.
Speaking at an election rally in Sashan, Miss Banerjee said that during the Left rule a section of local CPI-M leaders along with their party-backed goons used to terrorise local villagers and loot the people in the bheri areas the sources of livelihood for the villagers. 
"People could not even dare to enter the area. The person (Majid Master) responsible for reigning terror in the area is now at large. Peace has been restored in the area after we came to power," she said.
Miss Banerjee lashed out at LF chairman Mr Biman Bose and former minister Mr Nirupam Sen for allegedly maintaining bank accounts worth crores of rupees. "How could the CPI-M leaders Biman Bose and Nirupam Sen maintain bank accounts containing Rs 16 crore each, while the state is suffering from lack of funds," she asked. Referring to the Kamduni incident, the CM said that a section of people who didn’t want development were trying to destabilise the area. "They are conspiring to fuel a riot."
